A Beautiful Day

2/7/2014

The sun shines through the pines this morning, casting the clouds into pink cotton candy.

This oak is one of the three in front of our house

We needed something to put in the living room for the TV. Yeah we are keeping TV. I am just not ready to give up the history Channel and some scifi shows.

Rather than buy something we found this old dresser in the shed. Sweet

Yesterday was super busy. We had doc appointments for Bob and had to be back in time to meet... The Plumber. "dun dun don"

Remember this post?

Well turns out a lot of the pipes needed replacing. In the end we had water and we thought we had hot water.

He came back today and got that going and will return again to change out a breaker.

So yay!! We have water and it's hot. I've been scrubbing with hot soapy water (after the sanitizer cleaning) all day.

No live pics yet, but we had a used glass top stove given to us. It's similar to this one but not self cleaning.

They didn't know if it worked. We hauled it home today and three of the four burners work! Woohoo.

We hauled the old one to a repair shop and gave it to them for parts.

A good day at the homestead.

Foggy Dawn

2/4/2014

It dawned foggy this morning. Things are still a bit wet to burn but maybe this afternoon we'll be able to burn off some limbs and paper trash from the previous owners.

Pics this afternoon of progress today but I wanted to share the dawn and a cuppa with y'all.

This lovely surprise came in the mail from my friend Deb. We are part if the Honesteading Plain and Simple group on Facebook. I love this group. Thank you Deb!

... Abd in going through the mountain of stuff in the shed. I found these brand new muck boots. Woohoo

I've already put them to work today picking up trash in the yard.

Vandalized

2/2/2014

We arrived on the property Friday jan 31st to find water pipes cut and a second ac stolen.

Yes I said the second one. The previous owners admit to taking the first one. I can't say this was them, but I'd bet money on it.

We found the bags of their belongings we left out for them to pick up strewn across the yard and fresh food for the cats they'd assured me were taken care of.

We called the Sherrifs office and reported things.

The tire tracks were frozen into the ice.

We decided to move in even without water and before we finished repairs to the floor.

Our goal is no more vandals and just make it livable while we build.

We interrupt the homestead move in to bring you this snow break.

Occupy Homestead

2/2/2014

Yes. That is the inside if my new home.   We've been dealing with a roadblock to progress. The people who sold us the property... They didn't want to move.

They refused and it has taken us almost a month after we closed to get them out.

The pics in this post are what we found on the day we arrived and the week we spent getting g them out. We refused to leave the property till they moved out.

It was ugly. They threatened us. They cried about how we were going to force them to live in the woods. They called the law, they went to a judge. They tried everything under the sun.

They left it full of trash.

Picture
This is the first pile of trash we removed from inside the house!!!

In clearing the fence line at the west enc of the garden, Robert found our Santuary.

Here well build a small shelter and relax in the shade looking out over the garden.
